% 25-30 of women between 20-40 ages have urinary tract infection. In our country every year 5 million cases of cystitis occur. Some investigators suggest that empiric treatment for a short duration without doing culture is useful, safe and cost effective by estimating the factors and antibiotic’s sensitivity in the beginning in women whom are diagnosed as acute uncomplicated cystitis. On the other hand, a problem due to treatments of urinary tract infection has begun because of resistance producing from widespread using antibiotics for inappropriate indications. Therefore, in order to define appropriate antibiotics in urinary tract infection periodic surveillance is needed for checking local resistance condition. In this study, we aim to assess a clinical approach for antibiotic selection in empiric treatment of cystitis without doing culture or in beginning of cystitis therapy while waiting for the culture’s results.
